CHILD PROTECTION SUB - CLUSTER

UNICEF is the cluster lead of the Child Protection Sub cluster which is a sub cluster of the Protection Cluster. The Sub cluster operates in close collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and the Police Child Protection Unit at the Central level and Probation and Welfare departments at the district level. The Child Protection Sub Cluster aims to facilitate a more predictable, accountable and effective interagency child protection response through advocacy, standards and policy setting, capacity building and tool development.

The overall objective of the CP sub cluster is to promote child wellbeing and to protect and fulfil children’s rights to protection from abuse, exploitation and violence in emergencies as expressed in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and other human rights, humanitarian treaties and conventions, as well as national laws.
