The GBV sub-cluster strategy seeks to address both action to prevent GBV and service delivery to respond to GBV, as well as longer-term development of services, systems, and structures to protect women and girls from gender-based violence. The GBV sub-Cluster works with all relevant actors in Northern Uganda to deliver a set of minimum interventions to prevent and respond to GBV in line with the IASC Guidelines for Gender-Based Violence Interventions in Humanitarian Settings and  transition multi-sectoral GBV humanitarian interventions to national and local government and community-based structures and services. This will be achieved through effective coordination, assessments and monitoring and GBV prevention responses in Northern Uganda.

Objectives of the Sub cluster:

  • Strengthen GBV prevention and response capacity of duty bearers and service providers at the district and sub-county levels.

  • Develop or strengthen GBV coordination at national, district and sub-county levels

  • To promote accountability and provide psychosocial, health, medical, legal & safety services for survivors who wish to access them

  • Conduct targeted advocacy at national, district and sub-county levels to increase prevention and response

  • To reduce social tolerance for GBV across various population groups

  • Strengthen & standardize a safe system to collect, store analyse & share GBV related data to inform programme, planning, & Advocacy

Cluster Terms of Reference

In order to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the interventions on SGBV an integrated approach is required to coordinate efforts of all stakeholders. More...
